NODANCE ANNOUNCED IT'S
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
FOR ITS SIXTH
ANNUAL FILM AND MULTIMEDIA FESTIVAL IN PARK
CITY
Forest Whitakers Spirit Dance Entertainment to be the presenting
sponsor
Los Angeles (October 16, 2002) - The innovative, independent Nodance
Film and Multimedia Festival, which holds the distinction of being
the worlds first DVD-projected film festival, has just announced
its call for submissions for its sixth annual event to be held in
Park City, Utah from January 18th - 24th, 2003 on Main Street.
For the first time ever, Forest Whitakers Spirit Dance
Entertainment will team up with the Nodance Festival by
becoming the presenting sponsor for what promises to be an unforgettable
year.
Early entry submissions for features, shorts and music videos must
be postmarked by November 22nd, 2002 with final entry submissions
due by December 20th, 2002.
Nodance celebrates the alternative digital film culture with an
emphasis on emerging technologies and digital filmmaking.
Heading into our sixth year, Nodance is very excited to once
again bring first-time filmmakers and the digital underground to
Park City, says festival director James Boyd. With
limited budgets preventing many young filmmakers from participating
in the Park City Market, Nodance is more than willing to hold open
the door for new talent. With new digital technologies paving
the way, Nodance hopes to continue to bring more unique visions
to the screen.
Nodance 2002 continued to see a surge in crowds, highlighted many
first-time filmmakers, and was free for the general public.
In past events, Nodance has world premiered Artisan Entertainments
high-definition feature Skeletons In The Closet, and
hosted industry panelists such as writer/director David Veloz
(Permanent Midnight), musician Art Alexakis from
Everclear, and producer Gill Holland ("Hurricane
Streets").
Located on Park Citys historic Main Street, the Nodance 2003
headquarters is the epicenter of all Nodance activity, and will
host industry panels, networking events and desktop technology demonstrations.
Competition films, which are all screened via DVD-projection, are
eligible for the Grand Jury and Audience Awards, and back by popular
demand is the highly coveted Golden Orbs Award for the
most innovative guerrilla marketing campaign on the mountain.
Nodance screenings are free to the public, and the program is subject
to change without notice. Updates for the event can be found
on the Nodance Film Festival web site at www.nodance.com.
